Job summary

St. Vincent de Paul in Baltimore is seeking a classroom educator for Head Start to develop and implement lesson plans, foster kindergarten readiness, and support a stimulating learning environment.

The role emphasizes preparing children for Kindergarten readiness, collaborating with curriculum specialists, and engaging families through conferences and home visits. A degree in education and prior EC experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Education is required; Early Childhood Education preferred.
• At least 1 year of classroom experience is preferred.
• Experience with populations facing homelessness or substance use/mental health challenges.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to achieve program outcomes.
• Ability to work with people of varying ages and backgrounds.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Solid computer skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Create lesson plans and implement activities supporting kindergarten readiness.
• Develop weekly lesson plans using Creative Curriculum and individualized education plans.
• Provide daily activities that encourage inquiry and problem-solving.
• Assess children's development and document progress using Work Sampling.
• Promote parent involvement and conduct conferences and home visits.
• Collaborate with CDT and other staff to execute center plans.
