Job summary

The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis Inc. is seeking Head Start Teachers to support our Head Start/Early Head Start program.

You will plan and conduct classroom activities that provide developmental experiences for children, teach daily lessons, and ensure health, safety, and welfare of assigned children. You will guide Teacher Assistants and parent volunteers and promote parent involvement in the classroom.

Qualifications

• Must apply developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood education.
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations on child abuse, neglect, and licensing.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to organize and direct classroom activities.
• Ability to work with staff, children and parents.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct classroom activities that provide individual developmental experiences for children.
• Perform classroom teaching duties and ensure health, safety, and welfare of children.
• Provide direction for Teacher Assistants and parent volunteers.
• Promote parent involvement in the classroom.
