Job summary

Fairbanks Native Association is seeking a Full Time Primary Teacher to provide Head Start services for infants to preschoolers in Fairbanks, AK. The role includes mentoring staff, collaborating with the Lead Teacher, and possibly riding the bus as a monitor.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and a CDA credential or equivalent required for 0–3 year olds.

• HS diploma + an Associate’s in ECE or equivalent and pursuing a Bachelor’s in ECE for 3–5.
• ,
• Two years of experience in an Early Childhood or Head Start program.
• Three references from those experienced with children.
• CPR/First Aid current or obtainable within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Plan daily activities through lesson planning, integrating health and safety, early childhood development, and family partnerships into the curriculum.
• Develop activities reflecting cultural backgrounds and individual needs.
• Maintain a safe, healthy, and positive learning environment.
• Involve parents in educational activities to enhance their role as primary educators.
• Attend staff meetings, family staffing, training, and other scheduled activities.
• Follow State Childcare Licensing regulations.
• Participate in monthly fire drills and ensure proper procedures.
• Assist Health & Nutrition Coordinator and Family Advocates with gathering pertinent information.
• Communicate with families via written and oral updates.
• Clean classroom daily and maintain supplies and surfaces.
