Job summary

Fairbanks Native Association seeks a Lead Teacher to provide Head Start services for infants, toddlers, and/or preschoolers in Fairbanks, Alaska. The role includes mentoring staff, ensuring compliance with Head Start regulations, and coordinating with families to support child development.

The position requires a BA in Early Childhood Education or equivalent, and credentials or progress toward CDA/SEED Levels. CPR/First Aid may be required within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

  • B.A. in Early Childhood Education or equivalent.
  • Current CDA Credential or willingness to acquire one within a year and SEED Practitioner Level 10.
  • Two years of experience in an Early Childhood or Head Start Program.
  • Three references from caregivers/educators.
  • Current Pediatric CPR/First Aid or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Plan daily activities through lesson planning across health, safety, development, family partnerships.
  • Use a team approach to tailor activities to each child.
  • Create activities reflecting cultural backgrounds and individual needs.
  • Maintain a safe, healthy learning environment.
  • Engage parents as primary educators and involve them in activities.
  • Follow Head Start and licensing regulations and participate in meetings and drills.
