Job summary

Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation is seeking a Head Start Teacher to lead a classroom of up to twenty 3- to 5-year-old children in Wapato. The role emphasizes culturally responsive teaching, strong collaboration with families, and adherence to Head Start Performance Standards.

The ideal candidate will hold an AA in Early Childhood Education (or equivalent) with two years of field experience and will pursue ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Requires Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Education and two years of experience in education.
• Preferred Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education.
• Must be able to follow Yakama Nation and Head Start policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide developmentally appropriate instruction for 3–5 year-olds.
• Incorporate Yakama language and culture into teaching practices.
• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with Head Start standards.
• Collaborate with specialists and staff to support children's needs.
• Communicate regularly with families and conduct parent conferences.
• Supervise classroom aides and substitutes.
• Maintain health and safety standards in the classroom.
• Maintain and document child progress and center records.
