Job summary

Independence School District is seeking an Early Childhood/Early Education Teacher Assistant for a 9-month role at Mill Creek Elementary. You will assist the lead teacher in implementing Head Start standards and nurturing the classroom environment.

Qualifications include a degree with nine hours in early childhood coursework or completed CDA, or enrollment in a CDA/degree program, with preschool experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Must meet one of the following: a degree with nine hours in early childhood coursework, completed CDA, or be enrolled in a CDA program to be completed within two years, or be enrolled in a degree program with at least nine hours in early childhood coursework, or have a degree and are completing 120 CDA clock hours.
• Successful experience working with preschool children desired.
• Able to lift, carry, and hold children up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stoop, crawl, kneel, and bend to speak with children at eye level and to pick up toys and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide a nurturing and appropriate learning environment for children in the Early Education program.
• Implement a program that encourages individual differences regardless of abilities, heritage, culture, or language.
• Assist with daily activities: sign in/out, classroom setup, and lesson planning guidance.
• Support a process-oriented curriculum and participate in parent and staff meetings.
• Communicate and establish rapport with families; attend home visits and conferences as required.
• Maintain confidentiality and participate in required meetings and training.
• Complete CPR training within 30 days of hire and adhere to district policies.
