Job summary

The Hill Country Community Action Association, Inc. seeks a Head Start Teacher Assistant to support preschool classrooms on a 10.5-month schedule. You will assist in lesson delivery, supervise children, and help implement Head Start activities in a safe, positive environment.

Responsibilities include preparing daily activities, documenting progress, attending trainings, and assisting with meal times. After a 90‑day probation, pursue the CDA credential as encouraged.

Qualifications

• Must have a warm, supportive, pleasant, and positive attitude toward young children and parents.
• Must be reliable.
• Must be flexible in receiving assignments or adapting to changes in the program.
• Must be willing to accept supervision to improve work performance.

Responsibilities

• Develop, write, and conduct a planned lesson at least once a month.
• Prepare and conduct at least one center activity per day.
• Maintain a calm classroom conducive to early learning standards; avoid physical punishment.
• Ensure hygienic childcare routines and transitions.
• Assist with meals and service style dining.
• Ensure safety and supervision in the classroom and during drills.
• Document progress and participate in team curriculum planning.
• Complete Individual Development Plans and ongoing assessments for enrolled children.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings; pursue CDA credential after 90-day probation.
