Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta is seeking a Head Start Teacher Assistant to support the Lead Teacher in planning and delivering engaging early childhood experiences for preschoolers. You will help maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating classroom, supervise activities, and support assessment and parent conferences.

The role requires a CDA, strong verbal and written communication, and physical ability to assist with children up to 50 lbs. Employment includes benefits and alignment with YMCA values.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
• Must be able to perform physical requirements including kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry objects or children up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Organize classroom space into functional areas with the teacher.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment for children.
• Provide for supervision of children during activities and assist in planning lessons.
• Observe and assess children using developmental screening and ongoing assessment processes.
• Participate in family-style meals, field trips, and parent conferences.
