Job summary

Hill Country Community Action Association, Inc. in Gatesville, TX seeks a Head Start Teacher Assistant (10.5 months, non-exempt). You will assist in implementing lesson plans, supervise play, and help maintain a safe, nurturing classroom for preschool children.

Responsibilities include delivering monthly lessons, daily center activities, family-style meals support, and completing development plans and records. After 90 days, pursue CDA credential and participate in trainings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Some experience with preschool children preferred.
• Must be warm, supportive, and patient with children and parents.
• Must be reliable, flexible, and open to supervision to improve performance.
• Must have a valid Class C driver's license and a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Develop, write, and conduct a planned lesson at least once a month.
• Prepare and conduct at least one center activity daily.
• Maintain a calm classroom and safe environment per early learning standards.
• Assist with meals and serve family-style meals with children at the table.
• Ensure safety through supervision, routines, and emergency practice.
• Complete Individual Development Plans and maintain child records.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings; pursue CDA after 90 days.
