Job summary

Hill Country Community Action Association, Inc. in Texas is seeking a Head Start Teacher Assistant (10.5 months) to support classroom activities, implement lesson plans, supervise children, and uphold safety standards.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and some preschool experience. You will work with the Center Director and Teacher to maintain a positive learning environment, assist with meals, complete records, and pursue a CDA credential after a 90-day probationary period.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Some experience working with pre-school children.
• Must have a warm, supportive attitude toward young children and parents; reliable and flexible.

Responsibilities

• Develop, write, and conduct a planned lesson at least once a month; more with experience.
• Prepare and conduct at least one center activity daily (circle time, science, home, etc.).
• Work with Center Director and Classroom Teacher to maintain a calm classroom and safe environment.
• Ensure routines are carried out promptly, hygienically, and in line with child development principles.
• Assist children at meals and ensure family-style serving is maintained.
• Maintain safety through supervision, space arrangement, equipment care, and fire drills.
• Document in half of the children's files across content areas and complete Individual Development Plans.
• Attend staff meetings and pursue a CDA credential after the 90-day probation.
