Position Overview
The Head Start Teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, and coordinating the comprehensive education program for children aged 3-5. The role involves collaboration with a co-lead teacher, ensuring the program is developmentally appropriate and complies with regulations from the Office of Head Start, Wisconsin Department of Children and Families, YoungStar, and Next Door policies.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Develop weekly lesson plans and implement age-appropriate curricula aligned with Head Start and Wisconsin standards.
- Conduct ongoing developmental evaluations and adapt lesson plans to meet individual needs.
- Enhance classroom environment to support developmental changes.
- Provide responsive care tailored to each child's interests and needs.
- Prepare developmental progress reports.
- Incorporate cultural, linguistic, and familial values into the program.
- Coordinate classroom transitions with parents.
- Maintain communication with parents and caregivers.
- Encourage parent participation and build strong relationships.
- Conduct parent conferences and home visits.
- Facilitate smooth transitions from home to childcare and between classrooms.
- Assist with transitions from toddler to preschool and preschool to kindergarten.
- Maintain accurate records and complete daily health checks.
- Report concerns and family changes promptly.
- Participate in ongoing training and development.
- Utilize take-home activities and organize field trips for in-kind collection.

Qualifications
Qualifications
- Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field; Bachelor's preferred.
Special Position Requirements
- Conduct monthly Reflective Supervision with Co-Teacher.
- Complete annual performance appraisals for Co-Teacher and ensure training compliance.
- Ensure training and requirements for volunteers and substitutes are met.
- Maintain necessary certifications and training hours.
Preferences
- Supervisory experience preferred.
