Job summary

OWBC in Texas seeks a Substitute Teacher to support Head Start classrooms under close supervision. You will assist with curriculum planning, contribute to daily activities, and help ensure a safe, welcoming environment for children and families.

The role involves collaborating with staff, documenting lesson plans, and supporting health screenings and family engagement while maintaining confidentiality and following policies.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety in performing all job responsibilities and adhere to safety policy.
• Maintain clean/safe work area, classroom, and gross motor and playground areas.
• Assist with planning and preparation of daily activities.
• Encourage parents to engage in daily curriculum and document on lesson plans and to complete health screenings and follow-up.
• Assist with implementing the child’s Individual Education Plan into classroom activities.
• Integrate activities from all content areas into the classroom.
• Provide customer service in reception, greet and direct visitors.
• Follow content area plans and policies and procedures.
