Job summary

Tri Valley Opportunity Council, Inc. seeks Classroom Aide Substitutes to cover for staff absences and assist with information to parents about program services. You will support daily activities, maintain a safe environment, and help with hygiene and safety tasks throughout the day.

The role requires caring for children, communicating with families, and adhering to privacy policies. Candidates should be at least 16 and comfortable using basic computer systems in a childcare setting.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age; high school diploma or GED encouraged.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Enjoy and respect young children and their families.
• Comfortable working with computers; willing to learn program systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing daily activities and classroom management.
• Build positive relationships with parents and maintain professional boundaries.
• Know medical needs of children and respond appropriately.
• Communicate with parents with the classroom team per Data Privacy policy.
• Perform other duties as requested by staff or center leadership.
• Maintain safe, clean, and sanitary classroom environment; model good hygiene.
• Ensure children are supervised at all times; follow safety policies.
• Assist with diapering, feeding, and changing clothes as needed.
• Greet children and parents warmly and collaborate with staff and volunteers.
• Maintain calm, positive demeanor and communicate effectively with families.
