Job summary

Mid-Cumberland Community Action Agency is seeking a Substitute to support a Head Start center in various capacities, including classroom, food service, and family service assistance.

The role involves planning daily activities, communicating with parents, assisting with meals, and helping maintain the classroom and center while adhering to Head Start standards. CDA credential is preferred, with prior experience working with young children.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school diploma or GED; CDA credential preferred.
• Experience with children ages 0-5.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning daily lessons and activities; assume major classroom responsibilities as requested and as expertise is gained.
• Keep parents informed through conferences, letters, newsletters, anecdotal notes, and telephone calls.
• Assist with preparation and cleanup of all meals; eat meals with the children.
• Assist in all cleaning duties of both the classroom and the center as requested or required.
• Provide food service assistance in the absence of the Food Service Technician.
• Assist with parent meetings or trainings.
• Recruit children for the Head Start and Early Head Start Programs.
• Attend and participate in meetings, team meetings, committees, workshops, individual training, and conferences as assigned.
• Work to obtain volunteer and in-kind contributions for the Agency and submit necessary documents to the Finance Department.
• Comply with all Head Start Performance Standards, agency policies and procedures, and applicable Early Childhood Standards such as licensing and accreditation standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
