Job summary

Mid-Cumberland Community Action Agency is seeking a Head Start Teacher Assistant to support day-to-day classroom operations in Gallatin, TN. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, with CDA or an associate’s degree preferred and a CDA within 12 months.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED; CDA credential or associate’s degree preferred (must obtain CDA within 12 months).
• Experience: Previous work with preschool children ages 0–5.

Responsibilities

• Assist in daily lesson planning and classroom activities.
• Assist with assessment of each child’s developmental level and personalize instruction.
• Make home visits, work with parents, and participate in problem-solving.
• Keep parents informed through conferences, letters, newsletters, and calls.
• Assist parents in obtaining community resources and services.
