Job summary

United Counseling Service invites applications for a Teacher – Site Coordinator at Head Start in Bennington County. The role focuses on developing and implementing preschool curriculum, communicating with families, and overseeing daily site operations within a collaborative team.

You will supervise staff, ensure safety, maintain records, and partner with managers and consultants to meet children’s needs in a welcoming, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
• Vermont AOE Teacher License preferred.
• Typing and basic computer skills including Windows literacy and emailing.
• Strong time management and independent work abilities.
• Experience teaching pre-school children is an asset.

Responsibilities

• SITE COORDINATION: Manage monthly communications, food service coordination, attendance, and licensing oversight.
• EDUCATION: Develop and implement Head Start curriculum with family engagement.
• SUPERVISION OF CLASSROOM: Supervise staff and volunteers, ensure safety and background checks.
• WORK WITH STAFF/CONSULTANTS/SPECIALISTS: Collaborate with managers and consultants to tailor services for children and families.
• RECORD KEEPING: Maintain child records, attendance, and BFIS credentials.
• HOUSEKEEPING: Ensure site safety, building upkeep, and safety drills.
• FAMILIES: Involve families, coordinate events, and communicate needs.
• HEALTH AND SAFETY: Lead health and safety drills, CACFP training, and monitoring.
