Job summary

The Maryland Rural Development Corporation (MRDC) seeks a Head Start Teacher to develop individualized plans and deliver developmentally appropriate preschool instruction for children aged 3-5. You will collaborate with the Site Supervisor and MRDC team to support social, emotional, and cognitive growth in line with Head Start standards.

This role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, strong classroom management, and experience with diverse families.

Responsibilities

• Implement developmentally appropriate curriculum for preschool children per guidance from leaders
• Perform functions with an understanding of the Head Start Performance Standards
• Refer children suspected of having special needs to appropriate staff
• Implement behavior plans and IEPs designed with the team, families, schools, and mental health professionals
• Guide and facilitate activities of the children, including daily activities and field trips
• Cooperate with other staff to maintain the smooth functioning of the center
• Maintain comprehensive portfolios with weekly observations and developmental assessments
• Foster a positive learning atmosphere and maintain a safe classroom environment
• Supervise children at all times and implement positive behavior management
• Attend trainings and staff meetings to enhance professional skills
• Ensure files are complete, accurate, and confidential
• Arrive promptly and work under pressure to meet deadlines
• Perform related duties as assigned by supervisors
