Job summary

Maryland Rural Development Corporation is seeking a Head Start Teacher to develop and implement individualized education plans for preschool children, supporting their social, cognitive, physical, and emotional development. The teacher collaborates with the Site Supervisor and MRDC team to ensure program quality and compliance with Head Start standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or related field.
• One year of early childhood classroom teaching experience preferred.
• Must pass criminal background check in MD and surrounding states.
• Experience working with children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Implement developmentally appropriate curriculum for preschool children.
• Refer children with potential special needs or challenging behavior to appropriate staff.
• Implement behavior plans and IEPs with the team, families, schools, and mental health professionals.
• Guide and facilitate daily activities, field trips, and classroom setup.
• Maintain a portfolio with weekly observations, work samples, and developmental assessments.
• Foster a positive learning atmosphere encouraging creativity and exploration.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment.
• Supervise children and apply positive behavior management strategies.
• Attend trainings, workshops, and staff meetings to enhance professional skills.
