Job summary

Drake University Head Start in Knoxville, IA is hiring a full-time, 10-month staff member to support the Lead Teacher in curriculum development, classroom activities, and occasional home visits for Early Head Start programs. The role includes light cooking, direct work with children, and coordinating with families and program staff.

Responsibilities include following lesson plans, promoting positive development, maintaining confidentiality, and assisting with health and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School diploma.
• Ability to obtain Preschool CDA credential within two years of hire.
• Access to reliable transportation and ability to be insured by Drake University.

Responsibilities

• Support Lead Teacher with curriculum development, implementation and evaluation for preschool-aged children.
• Follow lesson plans and adapt to individual learning styles to promote development.
• Promote a developmentally appropriate classroom environment and positive self-concept.
• Develop and maintain communication with parents, staff, volunteers and visitors while maintaining confidentiality.
• Assist in health, safety, and nutrition activities including meal preparation and sanitation.
• Assist with documentation and confidential records per CACFP guidelines.
• Travel for Head Start activities within service area and participate in professional development.
