Job summary

Community Action Program Belknap-Merrimack Counties (CAPBM) is seeking a Head Start Lead Teacher for the school year in Concord, NH. This full-time, 35-hour-per-week role focuses on the cognitive, social, and emotional development of preschool children within a licensed program that aligns with NH Child Care Licensing and NAEYC standards.

The Lead Teacher will plan daily/weekly activities, engage in meaningful adult-child interactions, and maintain a nurturing classroom climate.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in ECE or related field with ECE coursework.
• Experience in an early childhood classroom.
• CPR/First Aid certification and criminal background check required.

A Day in the Life as a Preschool Lead Teacher:

Role

As the Head Start Lead Teacher, you'll play an essential role in providing all aspects of a quality child development program with emphasis on the cognitive, social and emotional development of preschool-aged children. Your day will involve:

• Provides quality educational experiences for preschool-aged children by planning and preparing daily and weekly program experiences while considering the needs of children.
• Engages in adult-child interactions that are responsive, supportive, and respectful of children's needs, development, and play interests.
• Establishes consistent classroom routines and activities.
• Designs and maintains a warm and nurturing classroom environment which meets the standards expressed in National Association for the Education of Young Children and NH Child Care Licensing regulations.

Requirements

Qualifications to Be a Preschool Lead Teacher:

To Excel In This Role, You'll Need

• Education: Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education; or Associates Degree in a related field with ECE coursework, including Child Growth and Development
• Experience: Previous experience working in an early childhood classroom
• Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively communicate with young children and their families and ability to relate comfortably to income-eligible families.
• Characteristics: Attention to detail, confidentiality, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive workplace and early childhood classroom experience. Must be 21 years of age.
• Technical: successful completion of criminal record check, CPR/First Aid certification

A valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required for occasional travel between program locations.
