Job summary

Hill Country Community Action Association, Inc. seeks a part-time Mental Health Aide (28 hours) to support Head Start children under the supervision of the Teacher/Director. The role collaborates with MH/Disability staff, area schools, and mental health professionals to maintain classroom harmony and safety.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, reliable transportation, and a willingness to obtain CPR/First Aid within 90 days. Work hours vary with the classroom schedule.

Qualifications

• Minimum: High School Diploma or GED; ability to record data per Head Start standards.
• Warm, supportive attitude toward young children and parents; reliable and communicative.
• Bilingual skills encouraged; able to work with professionals and community groups.
• Must have a valid Class C Driver's License and a reliable vehicle with current liability insurance.
• CPR and First Aid within 90 days; comply with agency policies and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Works closely with MH/Disability coordinator, school district, and/or mental health professional.
• Works with designated child who may have difficulty with classroom management.
• Diaper changing
• Completes monthly Aide Checklist
• Works only when the child is present; hours vary with classroom needs.
• Center director supervises the Mental Health Aide's task.
