Job summary

Richmond City Public Schools Head Start - Richmond, Virginia is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support classroom activities and reinforce learning under the supervision of the Lead Education Specialist. Duties include assisting with instructional tasks, preparing materials, and helping students with language arts, math, and social studies.

Starting immediately for a 9.5-month, 191-day position, 7 hours daily, with a salary range of $30,600 to $47,058 per year.

Qualifications

Current CDA credential or an associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Excellent communication, organizational, time management and public relations skills are required.
Must be adaptable to changing priorities and able to work independently or with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

Assists the teacher or designated supervisor with instructional activities.
Reinforces material through repetition and supports students’ learning.
Assists with self-care areas to build student independence.
Prepares and maintains files and reports.
Provides individual and small-group instruction in language arts, social studies, pre-reading, arithmetic, science, art, physical education, and music.
Supports planning of daily and long-range lessons and classroom activities.
Helps ensure positive behavior and safety in the classroom.
Assists with curriculum development and use of school facilities responsibly.
