Richmond Community Schools is seeking an Assistant Teacher for a Head Start classroom serving 3- to 5-year-old children. This grant-funded role involves collaborating with the teacher, families, and staff to foster positive outcomes for children of all abilities.

The position may be reassigned across classrooms as needed to support program operations. Minimum qualifications include a CDA credential (or enrollment in a CDA program), preschool teaching experience (two years preferred), CPR & First

Qualifications

• A current CDA credential or enrollment in CDA credential program immediately upon hire.
• Preschool classroom assistant experience required, with two years preferred.
• Ability to adapt curriculum for at‑risk, special needs, gifted, and culturally diverse populations.
• Pediatric CPR & First Aid certified.
• Ability to work well with young children, parents, and volunteers.
• Strong knowledge of early childhood development and working with parents.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Start teacher in delivering classroom activities for 3- to 5-year-olds.
• Collaborate with families and staff to promote positive outcomes for all children.
• Adapt curriculum to meet the needs of diverse learners including at‑risk, special needs, and culturally diverse populations.
• Support program operations across classrooms and centers as needed.
