Job summary

OWBC is seeking a Family Support Specialist to link families with community resources for Head Start. You will support family well-being, encourage parent involvement, and work as part of a collaborative team under the Family Support and Engagement Coordinator.

You may serve as Center Director in the Director’s absence. Role emphasizes outreach, education, and coordination across Education, Health, Nutrition, and ERSEA areas, with a focus on equity and service access for Williamson and Burnet

Qualifications

Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards (state/local licensing)
Minimum 2 years of relevant college degree or experience required
Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field preferred; bilingual a plus
Texas driver’s license required; CPR and First Aid certification needed

Responsibilities

Recruit eligible families and assist with applications.
Partner with parents to create welcoming program environments reflecting diverse backgrounds.
Accompany teachers on home visits and coordinate learning activities at home and center.
Support family health by connecting with medical, dental, and emotional wellness resources.
Provide information and referrals for emergencies and crisis intervention.
Collaborate with staff to involve parents in meetings and activities.
Maintain confidential files and regular progress reports.
