Job summary

Gateway Community Action’s Head Start program seeks a part-time Family Engagement Specialist to connect families with services and support.

You will recruit children, facilitate parent meetings, coordinate transportation, ensure records, and help families set goals. The role requires a high school diploma, valid Kentucky driver’s license, background checks, and annual professional development of at least 15 clock hours.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with FDC credential within 18 months of hire.
• Associate degree or higher in Social Work preferred.
• Valid Class C CDL with PS Endorsement within 60 days of employment; CDL physical exam.
• Must have Kentucky driver's license, reliable transportation and pass background checks.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary link to families enrolled in Head Start; facilitate parent involvement.
• Recruit children by canvassing the local community and managing referrals and applications.
• Prepare and facilitate monthly parent meetings, trainings, and guest speakers.
• Provide transportation for children and families for program activities and meetings.
• Maintain confidential records and ensure accurate sign-in/out for billing and reporting.
• Assist families in goal setting and ensure ongoing contact for services or referrals.
• Assist in health service provision and participate in required trainings and meetings.
