Job summary

Gateway Community Action is seeking a part-time classroom assistant to support teachers in a Head Start program. You will implement curricula, supervise daily activities, and help create a safe, engaging learning environment for young children.

You will collaborate with families, monitor child progress, and assist with bus transportation as needed. A High School Diploma is required, with a preferred Child Development Associate and a valid Kentucky CDL with PS Endorsement within 60 days.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Preferred: Child Development Associate.
• CDL with PS Endorsement required within 60 days of employment.
• Valid Kentucky driver’s license and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with curriculum implementation and hands-on activities.
• Support daily routines including diapering, toileting, and mealtime.
• Track and assess child progress and report to teachers.
• Engage families to strengthen home–school connections.
• Assist with bus driving as requested and supervise pupil transport.
• Maintain a safe, healthy classroom and comply with Head Start standards.
