Job summary

Union County Community Action, Inc. in Wadesboro, NC is seeking a dependable Cook to prepare nutritious, family-style meals for children and staff in Head Start and Early Head Start programs.

The role offers a consistent weekday schedule with a starting rate of $13.16 per hour, Monday–Friday 6:30am–2:30pm (40 hours/week). Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Six months to one year of related food service experience preferred.
• Serve Safe Certification within six months of employment.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening and TB test, and random drug screenings.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and food safety standards.
• Assist with food inventory and supply organization.
• Follow CACFP and program nutrition guidelines.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely.
• Support a positive dining experience for children.
