Job summary

Save the Children is hiring a Cook for Head Start/Early Head Start programs in Oklahoma. The role supports healthy meals for infants, toddlers and preschool children, following USDA and CACFP standards.

Responsibilities include meal preparation, serving, inventory, and ensuring food safety and cleanliness across kitchen operations. Strong emphasis on teamwork, confidentiality with families, and ability to adapt to multiple sites as needed; prior ServSafe certification is a plus and English

Qualifications

• High school diploma and 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Basic food preparation and kitchen operations knowledge, including food safety requirements.
• Ability to relate sensitively with children and work with families and staff.
• Proven teamwork orientation and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve food and assist in related activities as directed.
• Maintain records and inventory; ensure sanitation across kitchen areas.
• Oversee storage and handling of food, utensils and equipment.
• Adhere to CACFP meal requirements and follow standardized recipes.
• Deliver food to classrooms and support safe, supervised interaction with children.
