Tri-County Community Action Agency in Glassboro, NJ is seeking a full-time Head Start Cook to prepare nutritious meals that meet menus and CACFP guidelines. You will weigh, portion, and serve food accurately while coordinating with the Nutrition Coordinator.

This role emphasizes food safety, inventory control, and engaging families through nutrition activities; you will support classroom learning, monitor safety, and help maintain orderly kitchen and storage areas.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in food preparation and service preferred.
• ServSafe certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals per menus, weighing, measuring, and portioning food.
• Maintain proper food storage and handling practices, including labeling and dating leftovers.
• Plan at least one learning activity per week per classroom aligned with weekly educational objectives.
• Involve parents in planning and implementing the Nutrition Program locally.
• Conduct semi-annual nutrition education programs with parents.
• Participate in weekly staff meetings and center planning sessions.
• Maintain cleanliness of the food service area and kitchen.
• Maintain food and supply receiving system and inventory.
• Coordinate a volunteer program for nutrition activities.
• Submit meal inventories by the fifth of the following month.
• Ensure child safety procedures and report concerns to supervisor.
