Job summary

Tri-County Community Action Agency in Woodbine, NJ, is seeking a Temp. Full Time Cook to support Head Start nutrition standards. You will prepare meals, weigh and portion accurately, and supervise food safety with the Kitchen team.

You will engage parents in the nutrition program, coordinate volunteer efforts, and maintain inventories and records to inform purchasing decisions. This role demands reliability and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Parent or community member able to support program duties.
• High School diploma or equivalent; ServSafe a plus.
• Previous food preparation and service experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals per menus; weigh, measure, and portion.
• Maintain proper food storage and handling; manage leftovers.
• Plan at least one weekly learning activity aligned with goals.
• Involve parents in planning nutrition program activities.
• Conduct semi-annual nutrition education for parents.
• Ensure cleanliness of kitchen, dining, and storage areas.
• Maintain monthly inventory and assist with ordering.
• Coordinate a center volunteer program for nutrition activities.
• Submit monthly meal inventories by the fifth of the following month.
• Ensure child safety; monitor center and report concerns.
