Job summary

Child-Parent Centers is hiring a Cook Assistant for our Bisbee Head Start center. You will support meal preparation, kitchen sanitation, and CACFP compliance in a semi-commercial classroom kitchen environment with family-style meals.

The ideal candidate has prior food service experience, strong math and communication skills, and the ability to work Monday through Friday in person. A High School Diploma or GED is required, with certifications in food safety within 30 days of starting.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Prior experience in food service activities including meal prep, ordering, and CACFP compliance.
• High school diploma or GED required; 18 years or older.
• Able to pass fingerprint clearance and background checks.
• Possess a valid Arizona driver’s license or able to obtain one.
• Food Safety Manager and Food Handler certifications within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing healthy meals and snacks for children.
• Maintain kitchen sanitation and organization to CACFP standards.
• Manage food orders, storage, and inventory and track costs.
• Assist cooks and report to Site Supervisor on daily activities.
• Work collaboratively with center staff to support program goals.
