Job summary

CAPSLO is seeking a Compliance Coordinator to assist with planning and operations of Head Start and related programs, ensuring quality services to children and families and adherence to program policies.

Under the Area Manager, you will monitor compliance with Head Start standards, conduct site visits, maintain confidential records, and participate in Self-Assessment. Develop monitoring systems and support staff orientation and training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in child development/early childhood education or related field.
• Three years teaching experience with children ages 0-5 in a licensed setting.
• Must have, or obtain, training in adult learning.
• Must possess a Child Development Teacher Permit or higher.
• Must provide certificates of completion of approved pediatric first aid and pediatric CPR training within 30 days of hire.
• Must complete Safety Training (Performance Standard; 1302.47) within three months of hire.
• Must complete 16 hours of training on preventative health practices, as required by Health and Safety Code.
• Depending on the department assigned, a valid California driver's license, a current DMV driving record, and proof of insurance may be required for travel.
• Fluency in two or more languages preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure program quality adheres to laws, licensing, and Head Start standards.
• Develop and maintain the Google Drive Monitoring System.
• Provide staff orientation and training support.
• Keep the Area Manager informed of center operation issues.
• Prepare monthly monitoring reports for leadership.
• Observe instructional staff and provide guidance as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Be an active member of the CYFS team.
• Follow safety rules to protect children and staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Under the direction of the Area Manager, assists with the overall planning and operations of the Head Start, Early Head Start, Migrant Seasonal Head Start program and ensures quality services to children and families including children with disabilities. Responsible for monitoring the implementation of CYFS program policies and procedures requirements in the centers and/or providers homes. Monitors compliance with Migrant and Seasonal Head Start Performance Standards and State and Local regulations. Supports CAPSLO mission by ensuring the CYFS program are operating efficiently and that children are receiving quality services through CAPSLO.

What we're looking for in the ideal candidate:

• Bachelor’s degree in child development/early childhood education or related field.
• Three years teaching experience with children ages 0-5 in a licensed setting.
• Must have, or obtain, training in adult learning.
• Must possess a Child Development Teacher Permit or higher.
• Must provide certificates of completion of approved pediatric first aid and pediatric CPR training within (30) days of hire. Employee is responsible for renewing and maintaining a valid CPR/first aid certification at all times.
• Must complete Safety Training (Performance Standard; 1302.47) within three months of hire.
• Must complete (16) hours of training on preventative health practices, as required by Health and Safety Code.
• Depending on the department assigned, a valid California driver's license, a current DMV driving record, and proof of insurance may be required to fulfill job-related travel. For positions where driving is an essential function of the job, candidates must be at least 21 years of age and have a minimum of three (3) years of driving experience. • Fluency in two or more languages, including one that supports the needs of the program and community is preferred, but not required.

As a Compliance Coordinator you will:

• Use quality assurance tools to monitor all program options and ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards.
• Monitor assigned areas through regularly scheduled and unscheduled site visits.
• Ensure each program option establishes and maintains records and files in compliance with confidentiality requirements.
• Participate in the program's Self-Assessment using the Head Start Program Review Instrument.
• Ensure daily that the overall program quality at the center level adheres to State laws and licensing regulations, Federal Head Start Performance Standards, CAPSLO personnel policies and procedures, and guidance from the Area Manager.
• Develop and maintain the Google Drive Monitoring System.
• Provide and assist with staff orientation and training.
• Keep the Area Manager informed of any problems or concerns related to center operations.
• Prepare and provide monthly monitoring reports to the Area Manager.
• Observe instructional staff's guidance techniques with children and offer support when appropriate.
• Maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Act as an active member of the Child, Youth & Family Services (CYFS) team.
• Follow all applicable safety rules, practices, and procedures and exercise reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of children, fellow employees, and yourself.
• Perform and complete all other duties as assigned.
