Job summary

Connecticut Institute For Communities, Inc. seeks a CDA Specialist/Assistant Teacher to support Head Start classrooms for children ages 6 months to 5 years in Danbury.

This role assists with planning routines, implementing curriculum, meals and activities under the direction of a Lead Teacher. You will work with a classroom of 14–20 children and/or 7–8 infants/toddlers, performing duties to support the core Head Start functions and maintain a high standard of care and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• CDA certificate or commitment to obtain within 1 year of employment.
• Bilingual abilities encouraged (English/Spanish or English/Portuguese).
• Experience in early childhood education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning classroom routines and curriculum under a Lead Teacher.
• Aid in meals, snack, toilet and clothing routines for children.
• Supervise students during drills, activities and group sessions.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct with families and staff.
• Perform clerical duties as assigned and support classroom operations.
• Communicate effectively with staff and parents to support learning goals.
