Job summary

American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) seeks a Head Start Teacher Assistant Floater to support teachers in Seguin and New Braunfels centers. The role covers children ages 6 weeks to 4 years, year-round, with travel between sites as needed.

The position requires a CDA or enrollment in an ECE degree program, bilingual Spanish/English preferred, and willingness to travel. No remote work; on-site in Head Start settings.

Qualifications

• Must possess one of the following: CDA credential or a comparable certificate that meets national infant/toddler CDA requirements.
• Be enrolled in a program to obtain an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in child development or ECE with related coursework.
• Prior experience with children birth to five in licensed childcare is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Start Teachers in maintaining a calm, safe classroom and playground.
• Provide direct classroom support to maintain teacher-child ratios and assist with breaks.
• Help develop lesson plans and implement developmentally appropriate activities.
• Document and monitor children’s progress, including IEP/IFSP goals when applicable.
• Support families and promote language, social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
• Participate in mealtimes and daily routines with a family-style approach.
