Job summary

South Plains Community Action Association, Inc. is seeking a part-time Floater to support the Site Leader and classroom staff in Post, Texas. The role involves assisting with lesson planning, activities, and daily records while maintaining a safe, nurturing environment for children.

The Floater will collaborate with the Lead Teacher, communicate with families, and help implement weekly themes and developmentally appropriate practices in Head Start, ensuring licensing standards are met.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a child development credential program to be completed within 12 months.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, healthy learning environment indoors and outdoors.
• Assist in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities.
• Communicate regularly and effectively with parents and community resources.
• Coordinate and interact positively with parent/volunteer assigned to classroom.
• Encourage family involvement in classroom activities and weekly themes.
• Assist Lead Teacher or Teacher Assistant in lesson plan development and weekly learning experiences.
• Set up individual activities for children and document on Individualization forms.
• Conduct assessments in LAP-D Quick Screen and Full LAP-D, and LAP-3 ongoing assessments.
