Job summary

YMCA Head Start in Columbus, OH is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support the Lead Teacher in delivering developmentally appropriate Head Start activities. You will assist in planning individualized learning experiences, monitor student progress, and promote healthy meals and family involvement.

The role requires a CDA or higher, knowledge of Head Start regulations, and commitment to collaborative teaching.

Qualifications

• Minimum CDA in Preschool; an Associate’s degree in ECE or related field or higher preferred.
• Knowledge of Head Start and State Child Care Licensing regulations and requirements.
• Career Pathway Level as determined by Program’s SUTQ requirements.
• Medical statement and TB test results per Head Start standards; current first aid and child abuse prevention trainings required.
• Passionate belief in the Y’s cause of nurturing the potential of all youth and healthy living.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising and implementing the program in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards and policies.
• Collaborate with teaching team to ensure needs of children and families are met.
• Maintain prompt hours and follow procedures for absences.
• Assist with record keeping, attendance, CACFP forms, and monthly reports.
• Promote family engagement and parent-teacher conferences to discuss child development.
