Job summary

YMCA of Columbus is seeking a Teacher Aide to support Head Start classroom activities in Columbus, OH. The role involves assisting with lesson planning, supervising children, and promoting healthy eating through CACFP guidelines.

You will maintain a safe, clean learning environment, work with the teaching team, and complete required reports and professional development. A High School Diploma and experience with children are required; background checks and TB tests may be needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma.
• Experience working with children.
• Knowledge of Head Start and ODJFS regulations and requirements is a plus.
• Must submit medical statement and TB test results as required by Head Start standards.
• Must complete a FBI and BCI criminal background check.
• Must keep current training certifications in first aid, communicable diseases, child abuse recognition & prevention.

Responsibilities

• Promote youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.
• Maintain professionalism and integrity in the classroom and with staff.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to Head Start Code of Conducts.
• Assist with implementing the program in accordance with Head Start standards and YMCA philosophy.
• Assist with CACFP programming and family-style meals.
• Collaborate with teaching team to meet children and families' needs.
