Job summary

Tri-County Community Action Agency in Glassboro, NJ is seeking a Full Time Head Start Assistant Teacher to support classroom activities and help meet Head Start Performance Standards. The position pays an hourly range of $17.01–$20.30, with up to 25% travel in Head Start settings.

Responsibilities include assisting the Teacher with developmentally appropriate activities, documenting progress, maintaining records, and engaging families.

Qualifications

• Must have a CDA or be enrolled in CDA program or in early childhood coursework leading to degree.
• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must have a car available on a daily basis.
• Must be able to read and write sufficiently to maintain proper records.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Teacher in planning and implementing educational activities in the classroom and interact with children in a developmentally appropriate manner.
• Assist in observing, screening, assessing, and documenting children's growth and development. Document observations and individual activities in blue books.
• Assist in carrying out administrative duties as delegated by the teacher.
• Assume Teacher responsibilities in the absence of the Teacher.
• Prepare and maintain appropriate records or reports. This may include maintaining daily attendance record of children and managing records of classroom in‑kind.
