Job summary

EightCAP, Inc. is seeking a Classroom Aide to support Head Start/ Early Head Start classrooms in Michigan. The role ensures smooth operation when regular staff are absent, keeping children engaged and in a safe, nurturing environment.

Responsibilities include monitoring activities, maintaining records, assisting in meal prep, ensuring compliance with Head Start and CACFP rules, and collaborating with families and staff to support every child’s development.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Experience with early childhood programs and food service preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively and positively and work collaboratively with staff, families, agency representatives, service providers, and community organizations in a respectful, professional, and non-judgmental manner.
• Understanding of mandated reporting requirements, including the ability to recognize, document, and report suspected child abuse or neglect in accordance with state law and program procedures.
• Must successfully complete all required state and federal background clearances.

Responsibilities

• Monitor a safe, healthy, organized classroom environment for children daily.
• Maintain professional boundaries with enrolled children and families at all times.
• Model appropriate behavior and support children’s individual needs.
• Prepare meals and snacks per menus and maintain cleanliness of meal prep areas.
