Job summary

EightCAP, Inc. seeks a Center Assistant to support Head Start and Early Head Start, creating a safe, positive environment for children and families. You will shop for groceries, prepare meals, assist with cleaning, and participate in daily activities with the teaching team.

The role is full-time, non-exempt, hourly, 30-32 hours per week, 41-44 weeks per year aligned to the school year, with local travel between sites. A Michigan driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Must communicate effectively and positively with staff, families, and community partners.
• Understanding of mandated reporting requirements and state law procedures.
• Ability to complete required state and federal background clearances.

Responsibilities

• Monitor regulations of Head Start, LARA, and CACFP.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries with children and families.
• Assist with meal prep and maintaining clean meal areas and classrooms.
• Support safe, organized learning environments and daily activities.
• Record-keeping and reporting suspected abuse or neglect as assigned.
• Communicate positively with children, parents, and staff.
