Job summary

Capital Area Head Start seeks an Associate Teacher to join our inclusive education team. You will help develop and implement lesson plans, engage families, and build community partnerships as part of a 10-month program with summers off.

You will support health and safety, participate in trainings, and contribute to positive outcomes for children across Harrisburg, Hummelstown, Carlisle, Camp Hill and surrounding areas. A CDA or progress toward one is required within two years.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CDA credential or ability to obtain within two years of hire.
• Basic computer skills (MS Word/Outlook) and ability to learn web-based systems.
• Ability to travel for home visits, training, and other locations.
• Clearances: Criminal History, MVR, Child Abuse and FBI.
• Experience in Head Start or Early Head Start preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing lesson plans.
• Collaborate with education and support teams to deliver a curriculum-based program.
• Engage families and community partners to support children’s learning.
• Support health, safety, and overall well-being of children.
• Maintain documentation and participate in program trainings and development.
