Hawkeye Area Community Action Program, Inc. (HACAP) is seeking a Head Start Assistant Teacher for a full-time, 40-hour week. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm, with a school-year calendar.
Pay ranges from $17.24 to $19.81 per hour, depending on education and experience, with gradual increase to $19.81 after CDA within the first year. Starting rate is $17.24 for those without CDA or AA in Early Childhood Education; HACAP will support obtaining CDA.

Job Title: Head Start Assistant Teacher.

Pay Range: $17.24 - $19.81 hourly depending on education and experience.
Starting rate for this position is $17.24 for all Assistant Teachers that have not obtained their Child Development Associate Certification (CDA), have an Associate of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field. All Assistant Teachers are required to obtain their CDA within their first year of employment. HACAP will guide you in obtaining your CDA and once acquired pay will increase to $19.81 an hour.
The Head Start Assistant Teacher supports the Teacher in planning, implementing, and maintaining a nurturing and supportive educational program for participating children. The Assistant Teacher is the designated lead Head Start staff person at times during the day when the teacher is not present in the classroom.
