YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South's Grace Early Learning Center in Cordova, TN is hiring a Head Start Assistant Teacher for a full-time role. You will support classroom teachers, provide nurturing care, and help implement age-appropriate activities to support early learning goals.

The position requires at least 18 years old, CDA credential, and enrollment in a degree program with completion planned within two years. Work hours are typically 8:00 am–6:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

Overview

YMCA of Memphis and the Mid-South Early Learning Center (ELC) is hiring a Head Start Assistant Teacher at Grace Early Learning Center in Cordova, TN. This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teachers and lead teachers in areas including, but not limited to:
• Provide excellent and nurturing care to all children in the classroom.
• Plan and implement age-appropriate classroom activities.
• Maintain accurate rosters of children in care and assist parents with sign-in and sign-out.
• Ensure the daily schedule is followed.
• Complete daily parent reports and use communication tools.
• Maintain stimulating and orderly program spaces.
• Serve meals and snacks to children.
• Comply with risk management standards to ensure a safe environment, respond to incidents, and follow the YMCA incident management process.
• Practice positive and timely communication with parents regarding their child’s experience.
• Practice positive and uplifting communication with the team.
• Assure compliance with state and local regulations.
• Maintain all training and education hours required by the Tennessee Department of Human Services Child Care Licensing.
• Attend and participate in assigned staff meetings and special events.
• Provide a collaborative and cohesive approach to the YMCA’s vision and mission.
• Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned by and agreed to with the supervisor to meet the changing needs of the program and/or branch.

Work Schedule

The full-time work schedule is generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 am–6:00 pm, with potential evenings and weekends required.

• Exposure to electrical/mechanical mechanisms
