Hawkeye Area Community Action Program (HACAP) is seeking a Head Start Assistant Teacher to support the classroom under the teacher's guidance. The role is a full-time, 30-hour work week with a schedule Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, and a starting wage between $17.24 and $19.81 per hour depending on education and experience.
New hires without the CDA will start at $17.24 per hour and are expected to obtain their CDA within the first year; subsequent pay increases to $19.81 per

Pay Range: $17.24 - $19.81 hourly depending on education and experience.
Starting rate for this position is $17.24 for all Assistant Teachers that have not obtained their Child Development Associate Certification (CDA), have an Associate of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field. All Assistant Teachers are required to obtain their CDA within their first year of employment. HACAP will guide you in obtaining your CDA and once acquired pay will increase to $19.81 an hour.
The Head Start Assistant Teacher supports the Teacher in planning, implementing, and maintaining a nurturing and supportive educational program for participating children. The Assistant Teacher is the designated lead Head Start staff person at times during the day when the teacher is not present in the classroom.
