Job summary

The Willis Center in Dickinson County, Kingsford, Michigan, is hiring a Head Start Assistant Classroom Coordinator. The role is part-time, hourly under the ESP II union, with a wage range of $14.22 to $19.77 per hour, starting immediately for the school year.

Report to the Director of Early Childhood Education and contribute to High/Scope curriculum implementation. Position requires a High School diploma or equivalent, plus CAD credential within two years, and a preference for prior licensed

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and must obtain a CAD credential within two years of hire date.
• Minimum of one year experience in a licensed preschool or child care program preferred.
• Be physically qualified as determined by a physical examination upon hire.
• Professional knowledge of child growth and development and sensitivity to needs of young children and families.
• Able to physically manage, lift and interact with students of varying size and ability as needed.
• Driving may be necessary and requires a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assist and support classroom operations and program-related functions.
• Promote neat appearance and proper attitude.
• Work with Education and Early Childhood Development Coordinator and follow guidance.
• Support classroom activities and follow High/Scope Curriculum as directed.
• Maintain child and family records and information securely.
• Document lesson plans, anecdotal records, progress on Child Outcome data, travel, supplies and other records.
