Job summary

YMCA of the East Bay is seeking a Specialist to support the Early Educator Apprenticeship Program in Emeryville, CA. You will coordinate on-the-job training, tutoring and referral services for Head Start participants while mentoring apprentices and collaborating with centers and colleges.

The role emphasizes program development, community partnerships, and ensuring successful completion of apprenticeship milestones. Evening/weekend flexibility is required to meet class schedules.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in social sciences or liberal arts, child development and/or early childhood education preferred.
• 1 year of combined experience in child development, mentoring or program design preferred.
• Experience with 2 and 4-year colleges/universities preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred to support apprentices and families.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high quality programming achieving educational, administrative and service delivery goals.
• Support apprenticeship program enrollment and participant progress.
• Work with Center Directors to assess apprentice progress in work assignments.
• Document student's academic information including test scores and attendance.
• Mentor apprentices, teaching soft skills and professional conduct.
• Meet with instructors, counselors and partners for support and coordination.
• Coordinate site visits and coaching to improve on-the-job training experiences.
