Community Action Program Belknap-Merrimack Counties is seeking a Home-Based Specialist to lead the Home-Based Early Head Start program in Belknap and Merrimack Counties. The role focuses on planning, implementing, coordinating, training, and evaluating services in alignment with Head Start Performance Standards for home-based delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field.
  • Five years of experience teaching young children; 2 years of supervisory/management experience preferred; knowledge of needs of children with disabilities; experience observing and programming for children and inclusive environments.

Location: Belknap and Merrimack Counties

Hours: Full Time, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week

Salary Description: $33.80- $36.93, based on level of education and relative work experience

A Day in the Life as a Mental Health and Disabilities Specialist:

As the Home-Based Specialist, you’ll play an essential role in the planning, implementation, coordination, training and evaluation of the Home-Based Early Head Start program. The Home-Based Specialist is responsible for the overall implementation of Head Start Performance Standards that are applicable to home-based services.

Your day will involve:

  • Overseeing the training and professional development of the home visiting team to ensure the provisions of high-quality early childhood education services while using a family-centered approach.
  • Working closely with the content area Specialists, Education/Site Managers and Home-Based Services Managers to enhance collaborative elements of the total program. Working with the leadership team to support transitions between home-based services and center-based services.
  • Overseeing the implementation of the home-based curriculum (prenatal to 5 years) and family goal-setting practices.
  • Ensuring the Agency Recruitment Plan is implemented to maintain full enrollment of the Home-Based Program.
  • Collecting program data and sharing relevant information to team members to help make informed decisions that will improve participant and staff experiences.

Qualifications to Be a Home Based Specialist:

To excel in this role, you’ll need:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field
  • Experience: Five years of experience teaching young children; 2 years of supervisory or management level experience in related field preferred; Knowledge of needs of children with disabilities; experience observing and programming for children and experience in facilitating inclusive environments.
  • Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of community, county, state and federal policies regarding Head Start and Childcare Licensing preferred. Skills in program development, implementation, operation, evaluation, and fiscal management preferred
  • Characteristics: Attention to detail, confidentiality, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive workplace and early childhood classroom experience. Must be 21 years of age.
  • Technical: successful completion of criminal record check, CPR/First Aid certification

A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required for occasional travel between program locations.
