Job summary

Loy Norrix High School seeks a motivated Softball Head Coach for Spring 2027. You will work under the Athletic Directors to guide varsity girls’ softball, organize tryouts, and lead practices and games with a focus on skill development and sportsmanship.

Responsibilities include coordinating events, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with KPS and MHSAA rules. A strong leader and positive role model is essential for fostering school spirit and athlete growth.

Qualifications

• Coaching experience in a team sport is required.
• First aid/CPR certification is required or obtained before season.
• CAP 1 and CAP 2 completion by end of second season.
• Knowledge of injury prevention protocols is essential.
• Experience with urban educational settings is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Organize team tryouts and select players.
• Attend pre-season parent meetings and post-season awards.
• Collaborate with Athletic Director and staff.
• Coordinate practices and game events.
• Develop and share training rules with AD.
• Follow documented injury protocols.
• Lead well-organized practices.
• Create a practice plan with fellow coaches.
• Derive a practice schedule and share with athletes, parents, offices.
• Display sportsmanship and adhere to athletic code.
• Manage equipment inventory, repair, and replacement.
• Be knowledgeable in softball fundamentals.
• Abide by KPS Athletic Code of Conduct and MHSAA policies.
• Meet all paperwork deadlines (rosters, physicals, ratings).
• Exhibit enthusiasm and respect for athletes and program.
• Dress appropriately for games and practices.
• Serve as a positive role model and leader.
• Promote other sports and activities within the school.
• Maintain fair, supportive relationships with athletes.
• Maintain composure during practice and games.
• Perform any additional duties as assigned.
