Job summary

Spencer County Middle School is seeking a part-time Head Softball Coach in Taylorsville, KY to oversee a school sport program and serve as a role model for students and staff. The coach will manage practice scheduling, budgeting, equipment, and adherence to school and state athletic guidelines.

The role requires strong leadership, communication, and a commitment to Promoting sports participation and developing good sportsmanship within the school and community.

Qualifications

• Promote sports in the schools and community.
• Plan the assigned athletic program.
• Organize and supervise practices.
• Teach fundamental skills, team play, and game rules.
• Demonstrate professional conduct and respect officials.

Responsibilities

• Has full responsibility for the over-all supervision of his/her program.
• Is in charge of assignments and duties of assistant coaches within the program.
• Responsible for keeping practice periods within the time specified by the Athletic Director and informing the Director of schedules.
• Responsible for equipment upkeep and complete inventory.
• Drafts and submits a budget for the sport program when requested.
• Builds good sportsmanship and positive public relations in the school and community.
• Maintains athlete insurance, permissions, and physical forms.
• Ensures coaches know KHSAA MS rules and compliance.
• Verifies athletes have physical exams and adequate insurance.
• Checks athlete eligibility and reports concerns to the Principal and Athletic Director.
• Ensures participants have transportation home after late road trips.
• Makes recommendations for letter awards and clarifies award policies to athletes.
• Explains athletic policies, including the Athletic Code, to all team members.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal or Athletic Director.
