Job summary

Lee County Schools KY is seeking a Head Athletic Coach for the Lee County Middle High School in Beattyville to lead the softball program. The role oversees practices, competitions, and coordination with the Athletic Director and Principal to promote sports within the school and community.

The coach will teach fundamental softball skills, enforce fair rules, and mentor student-athletes while ensuring eligibility, safety, and program integrity.

Qualifications

• Previous experience coaching or participating on a team.
• High school diploma or GED certificate.
• For KHSAA sanctioned sports meet all coaching requirements in KHSAA bylaw 25.
• Current certification in first aid and CPR.
• Completion of KHSAA training programs as applicable.
• Completion of district training programs as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to the Professional Code of Ethics and demonstrate punctuality and regular attendance.
• Promote sports in the schools and community.
• Plan the assigned program, including practices and scheduling with the Athletic Director.
• Communicate objectives to students, parents and community.
• Establish discipline rules written, dated and signed by students.
• Teach fundamental skills, team play and sport rules.
• Encourage good sportsmanship and respect for others.
• Verify eligibility, insurance, and academic progress; enforce KHSAA requirements.
• Provide and maintain clean, safe facilities.
• Serve as a role model and provide guidance.
• Conduct learning experiences with small groups of athletes.
• Recommend equipment purchases for safety and welfare.
• Develop opportunities for all students to participate.
• Set selection criteria for teams.
• Provide leadership to be competitive with district peers.
• Monitor team budget and manage fundraisers.
